Rolex Submariner Date 16803

This Rolex Submariner Date 16803 is simply gorgeous – a truly lovely thing.

The 16803 was the very first bi-metal Submariner Date, made for a little under four years, a very short production run indeed.

The absolute best part of this watch is the dial which is really beautiful and has taken on a slightly purple hue as all the best 16803 and early 16613s do. The later model ‘Blueseys’ are nice, but they can’t hold a candle to a genuinely early example.

The case on this watch still has sharp edges, sides and even lugs of a great watch and the tritium dial and hands are perfect with lovely matching patina. The dial and bezel insert pop beautifully in the sun against the steel and gold case and Oyster bracelet.

There are a few small marks on the original insert that have come from being around for 38 years  – you can see them on the photos but the originality and colour of the insert is really more important than perfection on this watch. There is some wear to the bezel and bracelet but it’s still all beautiful.

Just tested by certified watch specialists Michlmayr & Co  and this Rolex Submariner Date 16803 is running within COSC spec this watch is supplied with a 12 month warranty.
