The Rolex 114270 Explorer was the last incarnation of the 36mm Explorer before the 39mm versions were launched. It has the classic proportions of the first sports Rolex that was made in 1954. A brief history of the Sports Watch is here if you fancy a read. This is an early 114270 and has the original bracelet.
A beautiful watch, this Explorer is in great condition, it must have been worn carefully. The case, dial and hands of this watch show no signs of wear. Importantly, the case has an original finish to the front of the lugs. The bracelet is brand new and still stickered following a Rolex service.
The watch comes with both boxes, the papers and their wallet, as well as the booklet, red seal and Swimpruf tag.
Just tested by Rolex certified watch specialists Michlmayr & Co, this Rolex 114270 Explorer is running within COSC spec.
The Explorer makes a lovely understated gentleman’s sports Rolex but would also look great on a lady who likes a larger watch as it’s 2mm larger than the Rolex mid-size. Well worth considering for either possibility, especially as it brings a more active feel and is more robust than its non-sports stable mates.
